On Sunday July 3rd the town of Norwich had a demonstration at the four corners. The charter of rights is being violated in Norwich as the Town council walks to their own drum.

We’ve all heard of the hate crimes in Norwich over the last couple of years. People trespassed, stole and conducted acts of hate against fellow Norwichians.

Town council has become a circus. Those in power are not upholding the law but rather allowing hate speeches to be conducted for extended periods of time. Its all a play within a play orchestrated by those in power woven on the stage that is council.

“Imagine there’s no countries, It isn’t hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for and no religion too. Imagine all the people living life in peace.” John Lennon

Separation of church and state guarantees religious freedom, a fundamental right. This ideology shields the laws of society/government office from the influence of any one religion so we can be free to come together as equals and build a stronger and more democratic Canada. Without the separation of Church and State within the Township of Norwich a small group’s beliefs are being forced upon all incumbents.  We need to build a wall between the two systems, for the benefit of all Norwichians. Those who represent must enact the law not their beliefs.

As per the charter of rights“…. the prohibited grounds of discrimination are race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, family status, genetic characteristics, disability……..”

Can we not uphold basic human rights in Norwich?  We are a town of mixed heritage, religions, beliefs etc. it is what makes us beautiful.  Beliefs should not be enforced by government office. The town of Norwich is the home to a melting pot of ethnicity, beliefs, sexual orientation etc.  Let’s respect each other, lets embrace our differences.  Let us not steal, trespass or conduct any type of crime to undermine another.

Let’s get this all straightened out and behind us. Hopefully after the town council fiasco, an investigation will occur and things will be cleaned up. Let’s not allow this to continue and escalate. Those representing us should be replaced if they allow speeches of hate. Norwich Ontario should not be known as the place of hate crimes and discrimination,….but it 2022.

Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability.

Just as the colours of the rainbow show diversity, the flags around town shows the diversity of people.
