Norwich Ontario is transforming from a sleepy farming community to a beautiful town with amenities and attractions. A Quaker community that over the years been painted by the different foundational ethnicities (i.e. Canadian, Polish, Dutch, German, British, French, etc). In recent history we have been seeing an influx of different people from different backgrounds with higher education improving the community. Norwich has woken up in the last few years with an increase in stores opening on Sunday. The Dollarama, Tim Horton’s, Ritchie’s Restaurant etc are now busy and prosperous on Sunday. Lawns are being cut and productive work is occurring on Sunday as opposed to years gone bye where the town was as quiet as a tomb on Sundays. Town vitality is increasing. Emily Stowe Public School is overflowing with young students, producing the next generation of Norwichians. The future is bright for Norwich.
Some of the changes notable in town over time;
- Greater diversity in the community (Asians, Muslims etc.)
- Greater diversity in sexual orientation (LQTBQ presence growing)
- People of different religious beliefs (different Gods and deities) or none at all.
- An influx of the educated people (McGill, University of Toronto, McMaster etc)
With the greater diversity, we are learning to respect the rights and freedoms of others per the Canadian Constitution.
“The Canadian Constitution, specifically Section 15 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, guarantees everyone the right to equality under the law, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, or creed. This means the Constitution protects against discrimination based on these characteristics, ensuring equal protection and benefit of the law. “
As Norwich Ontario grows and diversity increases, we are seeing less and less intolerance. Newcomers are integrating into the Norwich Ontario tapestry and bringing their backgrounds and experiences.
Norwich Ontario House Prices
The town is beautiful, real estate prices are low for Southern Ontario. it is warmer than Toronto with lots of jobs in easy commute range. You get incredible value for your money in Norwich Ontario. Why take a little house on a postage size lot (50 ft*125ft) in Toronto, when you can get something much larger and more family oriented? Norwich Ontario is where prices are low and children are safe to play on the street.
Why are prices low in Norwich Ontario? Well, our past includes a spot of religious extremism.

Norwich Ontario is a great place to buy real estate in the present climate. Newcomers fear our historic extremism, not understanding it fully. Let me assure you that this is the last gasp by a small portion of the inhabitants trying to impose their ways and religious beliefs on others.
Norwich Ontario is a good place to buy a house cheap, and over time as the intolerance is but a memory, you’ll be rewarded.
The town is transforming for the better. More stores, more construction. Community isolation is diminishing. Norwich Ontario is growing, becoming more educated and moving on from it’s past. We are a community to watch in the future.
